At least 2 militants were killed in a fierce gunfight between the militants and security forces on the outskirts of Srinagar, on Saturday.

The security forces launched a search operation in the Ranbirgarh area after they got information about the presence of militants there. The search operation was still underway when the militants opened fire on them, a police official said. The forces retaliated and took down two militants whereas one soldier has been injured during the whole process. 

Further search operations are currently underway to determine whether more militants are hiding in the area.
