Kerala Plane Crash: Dead Passenger Tests COVID Positive, Rescue Workers Asked To Go Into Quarantine

Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shylaja has urged those who had engaged in the relief and rescue works at the air crash site in Karipur to go into quarantine. This comes after a deceased tested positive for coronavirus.
Tests of all passengers are progressing. It is learned that around 500 persons, who participated in the rescue operations will have to go on quarantine.
Health Minister KK Shailaja thanked the rescue workers and asked them to follow the COVID protocol.
Friday, the day rains ravaged many parts of Kerala, another tragedy happened when the Air India Express flight skidded off the runway while landing in bad weather at Kozhikode International Airport. The flight from Dubai skidded off the runway at its destination Karipur Airport, Kozhikode, Kerala and broke into two. As many as 20 people including two pilots were killed and many injured after the flight overshot the runway.
The aircraft carrying over 190 people on board, while landing in heavy rains overshot the tabletop runway, fell into a valley 35 feet below and broke into two. It failed to hold on the runway due to poor weather conditions and skidded for more than 75 m.
The Air India flight was part of Vande Bharat mission to bring back Indians stuck in the Middle Eastern countries during the pandemic.
