With an addition of 9,983 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the Covid count in India has gone past 2.56 lakh-mark on Monday morning. According to the health ministry's figures at 8 am, there were 2,56,611 coronavirus infections in the country including 1,25,381 active cases, 1,24,094 cured /discharged patients and 7,135 deaths.

Maharashtra saw over 3,000 cases in a day for the second time since the outbreak. Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal also recorded their highest single-day jump in COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Coronavirus claimed 206 lives in last 24 hours.
