Farmers reject Government's draft proposal assuring MSP

Farmer unions on Wednesday rejected the proposal from the centre within hours of receiving the union government’s draft proposal to amend the new farm laws. Farmers have rejected the proposal calling it “vague”. They have warned the government over intensifying the protests and said that they will block Jaipur-Delhi highway on December 12. While addressing the media, farmer unions said that, “We have already told them there’s no point repeating what has already taken place. We insisted that all the three laws be repealed and assurance be given on MSP. The draft proposals are vague. We will block one road after another (roads leading to Delhi),” .
As farmers agitation against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws entered day 14, the Centre today proposed to give a “written assurance” that the existing Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime for procurement will continue. In a draft proposal sent to 13 agitating farmer unions, the Centre also assured registration of all private mandis to strengthen AMPC.
