7000 Paramilitary Forces deployed in riot hit Delhi

Thursday night The Ministry Of Home Affairs released a statement that stated as many as 70 companies- comprising 100 soldier each- of Paramilitary Forces have been deployed to control the situation in the riot hit Delhi after 38 people lost their lives to violence and many were injured. Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting to take stock of prevailing law and order situation in Delhi. Shah has appealed to citizens not to believe in rumors and fall prey to evil designs of miscreants and groups interested in precipitating communal tension. The statement further said that only 12 police stations out of 203 police stations in Delhi were affected by the riots. Also no major incidents has been reported in last 36 hours in any affected police stations. So far, 48 FIR's, have been registered while the police has detained 514 suspects for questioning. Delhi police has separately set up two SIT's for investigating serious offences. Besides, Delhi police has also deployed three special CP's, six joint CP's, one Additional CP, 22 DCP's, 20 ACP's, 60 Inspectors, 1,200 other ranks and 200 Lady Police. Citizens were requested to not lay credence to any rumor. Delhi police as a 'confidence building measure' has also set up Peace Committees across Delhi, which comprises members of all sections of society. These committees are meeting the people in the affected areas to maintain calm. The statement further said that East Delhi Municipal corporation has already initiated steps to clean the streets and repair damaged public properties in riot-affected areas. movement of traffic on the highway and connecting roads is returning to normal.
