"No Relief" Edible oil prices will remain hiked even in July
The people of Himachal Pradesh, who are already battling unemployment and inflation during the Corona crisis, will not get relief from the expensive mustard oil being distributed in fair price shops, even in the month of July. There is no reduction in the prices of mustard oil and refined oil by the Food Supplies Department at present. However, preparations have been made to reduce the price of pulses. The Food Supply Corporation has prepared a proposal to increase the subsidy on pulses from Rs 15 to 25 per kg. The proposal regarding this will be brought up in the next cabinet meeting.
From June 1, all categories of consumers, including BPL families, are getting mustard oil costlier by Rs 57 per litre. Earlier, a one-litre pack of mustard oil was being sold for Rs 98-Rs 117 per litre, now the same is available between Rs 155-175 per litre.The households covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are getting mustard oil at Rs 152 per liter, APL card holders are getting it at Rs 158 per liter and APL income tax payer card holders getting mustard oil at Rs 178 per litre.The Regional Manager of Food Supplies Department, Vijay Sharma said that till July, the prices of mustard oil and refined are already fixed. Food Supplies Minister Rajendra Garg said that the matter of increasing the subsidy in pulses is being brought to the cabinet.
