LPG price hiked by Rs 75 in Himachal Pradesh
The price of liquified Petroleum gas or LPG domestic cylinder in Himachal Pradesh has been increased by Rs 75 per unit within 11 days. Now domestic consumers will have to pay Rs 866 to get a cylinder this month. On February 1, the price of the LPG cylinder was fixed at Rs 791. Gas companies have increased this price by Rs 25 on February 4 and by Rs 50 on Monday. However, commercial gas cylinders have become cheaper by Rs 9. The commercial cylinder will be available for Rs 1666 in February. The domestic consumers will be refunded Rs 31 as a subsidy. Despite the increase in the price of LPG cylinders for the past several months, there has been no increase in the subsidy amount. Local officials of gas companies say that subsidy is decided from the national level itself.
The LPG price in Himachal Pradesh is mainly determined by the state-run oil companies and the same is subject to change on a monthly basis based on the global crude fuel rates. The rise in crude oil leads to a rise in the LPG rates in Himachal Pradesh and vice-versa.
On the other hand, the prices of petrol and diesel are also increasing constantly. The price of petrol in Shimla is 87.02 and diesel is Rs 78.84 per liter.
