The Directorate of Higher Education is planning to make changes in the holiday schedule of Himachal Pradesh government schools. The directorate has invited suggestions from the District Deputy Directors and Teachers' Unions till 25th  February. The Directorate of Education has asked to select one option from schools with summer or winter holidays. A total of 52 holidays are granted in government schools every year. In the Lahaul-Spiti district, demand has been raised to include their schools in winter holidays instead of summer.

Director of Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma said that a demand letter has been received from the private secretary of the Minister of Technical Education and the Government Primary Teachers Association Lahaul-Spiti in this regard. Whereas suggestions from other districts are still awaited.
