Pinegrove School receives awards for becoming a zero waste organisation
Adding another feather to the list of achievements, Pinegrove School, district Solan has been recognized for its efforts in the fields of water conservation and waste management. In a glittering ceremony held at Solan on the occasion of the Republic Day, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister, Govt. of HP, Virender Kanwar handed over the awards to the School and appreciated the efforts made by Pinegrove School in the field of water conservation and waste management. For waste management, Capt Renu Sharma, Head Administration took the award on behalf of the School, while for water conservation, Head Finance, Manmohan Singh received the award from the honourable minister. It is worth mentioning the fact that Pinegrove School is doing a yeoman’s effort in becoming a 'zero waste' organisation and not sending any of its waste generated to designed dumping sites with special focus on waste management and water conservation. The school has been effectively using its Sewage Treatment plant (STP) and reusing all their waste water for gardening purposes. The School has also made provisions for more than eleven lakh litres of Rain water harvesting tanks and has two Rain water Recharge wells for replenishing groundwater. The School has thus introduced and successfully implemented various environmental initiatives at the grass root level with its army of young eco crusaders for the society to emulate.
