Meeting for skill development programmes in horticulture and forestry held at UHF

A three-member team led by Naveen Sharma, Vice-Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN), Shimla visited Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni on Friday. The team interacted with the university officials for collaborating on skill development programmes for entrepreneurship in different aspects of horticulture and forestry.
During the meeting, Dr Parvinder Kaushal, UHF Vice-Chancellor highlighted the scope of collaboration in different fields of specialization such as fruit and vegetable processing, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, floriculture, medicinal and aromatic plants, nursery raising of horticulture and forestry crops, training and pruning of horticultural crops, natural farming, fruit and vegetable production, etc. He apprised the team that the university has created a ‘Centre for Skill Development in Agricultural and Allied Sciences’ to cater to the needs of clientele in above-mentioned fields.
The visiting team also interacted with Dr Kulwant Rai Sharma, Dean, College of Forestry-cum- in charge of the centre, Dr Anju K Dhiman, Convener and other members of the centre. The team was highly satisfied with the visit and further interactions will be held for signing MoUs with the university. The team also visited the experimental farms/laboratories, processing units of the university.
